Lowland Expedition Leader
£495.00The course is scheduled for 6 days in total to take a new outdoor leader to a fully qualified status. These days are broken down as follows:
- 2 Hill Skills Days: These days are dedicated to getting to know the map, area, and remit of the outdoor leader role.
- 2 Training Days: During training, we will guide you through all the skills required and identify the quality expected by award holders.
- 2 Assessment Days: You will be required to demonstrate your leadership and stay overnight as part of your expedition leader assessment.
Portfolio and Assessment Details
Each candidate will be expected to complete a portfolio demonstrating required skills and leadership experience.
- This portfolio will be overseen by a dedicated tutor.
- Your tutor will assess you throughout the course and give you modules to complete.
- Prior knowledge can be taken into consideration, however, all areas of the portfolio will need to be completed before an assessment can take place.
Tutor Support and Timeframe
We ensure high-quality instruction and support for every candidate:
- Each tutor has a maximum of 6 candidates to oversee. Smaller courses mean better and more detailed time and instruction.
- The course has to be completed within a two-year timeframe, with an ideal completion time of 6–12 months.
