Mark is an excellent instructor, full of knowledge and can turn practically any curriculum area into a fun and engaging learning experience. The children loved the Stone Age day and gained more understanding in that one day than they would have done for an entire term's learning in the classroom!
Emma Perrins, Deputy Head, St Gabriel's Primary School
Our Year 5 class had a fantastic day of outside learning all about the Vikings with Mark. They hammered their own amulets and loved learning to build their own fires.
They learned about food safety when making their own bread and burgers for lunch, and were fascinated at what could and couldn't be eaten when foraging for greens too!
I can't recommend Mark enough to fulfil your curriculum needs and give your pupils an experience they won't forget in a hurry. In his planning of the day, objectives were carefully matched to the national curriculum and the pupils were given learning opportunities that could not be delivered in the classroom environment. All resources were provided, included ingredients for lunch and follow up materials for class. In the light of current school budget struggles, this day offered really excellent value for money! Most importantly, our pupils are still talking about how amazing the day was and we very much hope to welcome him back to school soon.

First of all, we absolutely loved the day. It felt relaxed but useful and the children learnt a lot about survival skills and have been able to use this back in school to produce some gorgeous work. We are also planning to use what we learnt to produce an event for parents. Karolina and I have both said that it's one of the best trips we've ever been on, and the parents commented how interesting it was and how relaxed but educational it was. So thank you!

Mark is an oustanding instructor. His calm voice means that kids really focus on his message. He helps us with mountain walking, camping, caving and fire lighting and is awesome at all of these - really safe. I love watching his fire lighting session and seeing the kids achieve lighting a fire with no matches. Strongly recommended.
I don’t normally do any online reviews, but you are welcome to attribute the following to “Chris B” (not showing my full surname) ;
“Who doesn’t like starting a fire from friction? Mark is an fantastic instructor, full of in-depth knowledge. This is an excellent bushcraft course - highly recommended"
It shocked me when I arrived home - how we take our modern comforts for granted! Fires, food, shelter - Wow!
Thanks again, I had a great time

We had a wonderful day and the children loved the activities. They got to learn lots of things about climbing, linked to our topic, but also were able to show a lot of our school values. This led to us being able to create a class assembly the next day, re-enacting all of the scenarios in which we showed empathy.
(Following the day Heather took me to one side and said “Another fantastic day with you and your staff Mark, we can’t thank you enough. Having never visited the Roaches we will definitely be back both with our pupils and personally”. “You and your staff have been fantastic with our children, your patience and understanding is second to none”).

Matt Reynolds, Outdoor Education Instructor
I've attended many formal and informal training courses and assessments over the years and I have to say that my level 2 course and assessment stand out as one of the best. I found the informal atmosphere of both the training and assessment made me feel very relaxed and able to take in as much as I could. My instructors (yourself and Tony) proved to be extremely knowledgeable about the subject, a level of knowledge that was inspirational. I never knew that there was so much to know and since my training I have already begun to view the natural environment in a different way. For myself what I thought was particularly helpful was the additional information about how to teach each element of the course as a session within its own right. This has enabled me to already but this into effect when I have delivered bushcraft sessions since my course and I feel it has improved both the content and the style of my sessions. I especially liked that I was given "homework" to do before my assessment.
The assessment was also excellent and I feel that I learnt almost as much during it.
I have struggled to think of some constructive criticism that I could provide; and as such the only thing I can think of that the instant coffee wasn't great, however when all things are considered it is a minor point.

First of all a HUGE thank you for the day that you provided for our Year 3's. They had a fabulous day and learnt so much about the Stone age through their on-hands experience throughout the day.
The children particularly enjoyed learning how to make a fire and throwing the weapons onto the grass! It's an experience that they haven't had the opportunity to do before but provided huge benefits educationally.
Painting the cave paintings was also fun and useful for the children and they loved having the cloth at the end of the day!
Making the bread was a hands-on experience for the children and enabled them to understand what it was truly like during The Stone Age.
A great day for all children! We would highly recommend to other children and schools!
Thank you so much,

I recently went on the Weekend Bush Craft Level 2 course with Mark. I had the best time, the knowledge they shared with our group was incredible. They were so supportive and always made me feel safe and comfortable with the tasks involved. They have really inspired me to gain deeper knowledge and practise my skills. I would recommend this course to anyone and everyone because of how well the course is delivered. Thank you so much!

Awesome weekend, many thanks Mark. Great setup and every one thoroughly
Enjoyed it. Bob and Ewan were fantastic, really great guys so thanks again to them.
Hi Mark Just wanted to say a huge thanks for this weekend. Can’t explain how much I enjoyed it and how its opened my eyes too. Best I can say was driving up the M6 looking at trees on the side working out which way was south, silver birch for bark tinder etc. The weekend was both informative, fun and as I connected with being outside, food sources shelter etc. and as I thought on the way home I strangely emotional which for a 49yr old guy seems weird I have to admit.
Shane Allett-Hall, Stag do organiser and Bushcraft guy
Thank you for a great weekend and experience, following the stag do im going to take the Bushcraft up as a hobby, so please advise me on equipment that is hard wearing and cost effective. Great weekend thanks
