Before enrolling on this course you will need to have completed the Weekend Bushcraft, Survival and Wilderness Living Level 2 Training Course CQ NCFE Accredited which serves as the practical foundation for delivering the Linked National Curriculum Outdoors. If you’ve previously completed Level 2, 4, or 5 assessments, you can enrol directly by providing your certificate.
This course is designed to introduce you to the diverse range of edible, medicinal, and poisonous plants found in woodlands, fields, and hedgerows. You’ll also learn tree identification and explore the practical uses of various types of wood. Additionally, the course focuses on outdoor cookery, teaching you how to prepare and cook wild ingredients to make the most of your foraged meals. As this is a self-catered course, you’ll be cooking with foraged food, but we recommend bringing your own preferred provisions due to group size and the availability of ingredients.
You can find CCF contingents in over 500 secondary schools spread around the UK. The CCF offers young people a range of challenges, opportunities in various settings including adventurous, educational and outdoor settings.
The aim is to enable the development of personal responsibility, leadership and self-discipline.
Each CCF is an educational partnership between the school and the Ministry of Defence, and a CCF may include Royal Navy/Royal Marines, Army or Royal Air Force sections.

The Survival School Level 3 NCFE CQ Qualification in Fieldcraft, Animal Observation and Tracking is designed to enable those wishing to locate and get up close to animals in their natural habitat. The purposes of this course is to gain a skill set that can be used for multiple applications including: photography. observation, population control or military not forgetting, industry that uses Fieldcraft as an essential skill set. We deliver this course through hands on learning about behaviours, habitats, habits, territories and how to use traditional and modern techniques and equipment to get closer to your target species.
We will be using a variety of Night Vision equipment. Infrared, Thermal, Different quality of viewing devices, lamps and filters.
What do we know about the food many of us consume?
The aim of the course is to enable you to gain practical knowledge of bread making and how it has evolved over time.
Bread has taken many forms throughout history and used to perform many tasks, for example: In Religion “Give us this day, our daily bread”, “the staff of life” “Hovis (a junction of two Latin words Homanis Vis, The strength of man). “have you enough Dough to trade for that” that work is your “Bread and Butter” to name a few.
Before our ability to create fire, human forms would have foraged for food, seeds, fruits, flowers, fungus, fauna and subsoil foods. We also hunted and made use of carrion we came across as protein-based food. The seeds of wild grasses were first recognised as nutritious food around 10000BC if not earlier, when people lived by hunter-gathering. This happened more or less simultaneously originating from the middle east and progressing across into Europe and onto the US over many years.
During this migration we selected and identified different seeds, how we could save some for next year’s crop and use others to produce an array of nutritious breads.
This course starts with ancient methods of making bread and works its way through history following migratory routes and making different breads on the way through history, time and evolution.
The Level 3 Range Master Course, accredited by NCFE CQ, is designed for those looking to become skilled instructors in outdoor axe, knife, and tomahawk throwing. This 2-day course, which includes an overnight stay in the forest, offers comprehensive training on the safe management and instruction of a throwing range, focusing on both sport and recreational use.

This course is designed to equip you with essential skills to survive and thrive in the wilderness. You’ll learn practical techniques for lighting fires, identifying edible plants, building shelters, purifying water, and safely preparing and cooking rabbit, fish, and birds. The course also covers the safe and efficient use of knives and saws.
Accredited by the NCFE, this Level 2 course offers a fun, hands-on learning experience in a safe environment rather than an endurance challenge. Whether you’re joining solo or with a group, you can book your own weekend or a two-night course during the week.
The NCFE has approved Survival School as a centre to run the Bushcraft, Survival and Wilderness Living Skills course, which has been accredited as Level 2. This course is a two weekend course run in either Devon or Staffordshire.
The first weekend, which is our Weekend Bushcraft and Survival Course, will teach you all you need to know and the second weekend is your assessment weekend. We would suggest a period of consolidation in between.
