This course has been designed to study the most important skills you need to survive in any wilderness situation, with specific emphasis on making the subjects more exciting and interactive for younger participants, whilst not overwhelming them with mountains of information.
In the Wilderness we have the saying “Keep It Simple”
As adults we have many choices to make and as children we can have fun whilst learning how to make informed decisions. We can more appreciate our needs when we start from zero and begin to understand what we need to survive and thrive.
The main components for survival are: Shelter, Fire, Water and Food
With these in mind Peak District Survival School delivers a family day/ overnight that includes these subjects. And if time permits will include foraging/ natural navigation.
This course will provide participants with a sound set of skills and knowledge that everyone who spends time in the outdoors should know, whether you are a trail hardened explorer or someone who enjoys rambling on the weekends.
You do not need expensive or fancy kit for this course, apart from suitable outdoor clothing and a bowl, fork, mug and sleeping bag everything will be provided.
